I really want to get into the swing of the subscription model, i think £10 is a bit too much at the moment , i would rather have the adverts.
I have just used www.dittomusic.com to put my music onto Spotify and im quite interested to see how the money will come back to artists.

As far as i can tell we get 50% of ALL profits, which is ad revenue and subscription revenue, i could be wrong?

A clarification if I can proxy. The music labels all reached agreements with Spotify. Or the other way around. The labels seem to have sent over their catalogues to Spotify. But individual artists have since then indicated they want to opt out. At least in certain countries. When a track turns mahogany you can search for it again and often find it through another distro.

Very beautifully written article Carl, I'm impressed on many counts. Thanks for sending me the link, thanks for the Welsh Music Foundation seminar, it was fascinating, and may this be the year things start to settle down.

Best wishes, John

Very interesting article Carl, Anna has no need to fear as I can't see many labels staying out of Spotify.

We ourselves have just got our first raft of deliveries out (Pressure Sounds being one of ours) and am very intrigued to see the first "sales" reports back from them.

I've been using Spotify for two months, and I use it a LOT. I've tried a fair few music streaming clients, but couldn't quite get to grips with any of them - this is perfect for me.

I'm a bit concerned about the message they've sent out that they'll be removing a lot of tracks from their playlist... a lot of labels never actually reached agreements with Spotify so they're pulling a lot of their catalogue down. So how that affects things could decide whether or not it tips.

Found this site that has been very useful http://www.spotifyfriends.com/ almost a playlist directory, I bit thin now, but given time should build up into a really useful way of discovering new music, similar to particular bands/genres.
