I help people and companies to understand and use the web: communities, collaboration and creativity. I do presentations, training, strategy development, making and setting up tools. I have worked with National Theatre Wales, British Council Wales, Literature Across Frontiers and Welsh for Adults/DCELLS. I work freelance and also co-run NativeHQ.
One of my interests is how media can be used to serve the interests of Wales and the Welsh language. I run a (very beta) wiki for translations, localisation and the like called Hedyn and a group blog and unconference about technology and language called Hacio’r Iaith. I look after Y Twll (music and culture) and Y Bydysawd (news). I often blog on Quixotic Quisling in Welsh.
Yn ystod 2011 dw i’n ymgynghori’r Awdurdod S4C fel aelod o’u Fforwm Cyfryngau Newydd.
In 2010 I was a writer and game designer for the National Theatre Wales production The Beach. Read my blog posts about the joins between theatre, social gaming and technology. Or go and meet the characters.
I’m also interested in the culture and practice of openness. I collect links related to that on a blog called Open Season. I love open source software, particularly WordPress (on which this site runs).
In 2007 I started Sleeveface, which is a word, an idea, a website and now a popular book. Read the testimonials. I play records at your party and/or nightclub. The core functions of my brain are built around a solid infrastructure of pop trivia.
I have mapped much of the musical history of Jamaica.
I am part English, part Welsh and part Chinese Malaysian.
Formerly, I co-founded and ran the independent music label My Kung Fu.
Between 1999 and 2002, I studied Computer Science and Mathematics at Cardiff University.
My first computer was a ZX Spectrum +2A with 128k RAM and a bunch of cassette tapes.
My first paid computer work in 1998 was a shareware game called Invaders written in C and running on MS-DOS (and the fact that the original cheapo website still exists justifies my choice of Angelfire over Geocities).
I was raised on Glanmor Road, in the heart of Slough’s bustling Welsh quarter.
My blood group is A rh positive.
I take milk but no sugar, ta.
